  • The Captain of an ocean going cruise ship doesn't steer or navigate. He has crew specialists to do that. They work in shifts. People jump off blacked out, listing ships when hysteria grips them, and they stop thinking and start panicking. Something went wrong, maybe we'll eventually find out what.

  • Just a couple of points. A genuine assault weapon is capable of firing in either automatic or a semiautomatic mode. These weapons are not legal for civilian possession in the absence of a federally issued license requiring an extensive background check.

  • Former police officer, attorney and firearms trainer. I've had to use a handgun three times in my 61 years to defend myself. If you have not, sincere congratulations, but it hardly serves as a cogent argument against private gun ownership.

  • Hard to speak to exact motivations. But, contrast the JFK case, merely as an example of possibility. It is not "tin hat" thinking to believe we have (and have had for many years) a problem.

  • Wow.  People "know" she's guilty.  She's a "slut", a "she-devil", her eyes are a "window to her soul".  Defense attorneys are just there to get the guilty off.  Anybody who goes to Italy and has an Italian boyfriend is a whore, or a psychopath.  She should rot in hell.  …

  • Choppered over that shantytown in 2001 with my photographer wife. No Gringo without a death wish would venture in on foot. The complexity of the networks of paths between the make do housing cobbled together by people trying to put a roof over their heads is unbelievable.
